As a result of the Port of Savannah Harbor Expansion Project, which encompassed deepening the harbor and increasing its capacity, the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) is handling more ships, bigger vessels, and larger cargo exchanges. According to GPA, the Port of Savannah is the single largest container harbor in North America. This substantial increase in cargo volume has also created a need for more Warehouse & Distribution storage space to handle the increased volume of cargo processed at the port.

Seizing the opportunity to support this phenomenal growth, BCCG was engaged by a developer to Design-Build two new Warehouse & Distribution facilities, designed for use by multiple tenants.

Constructed on a nine-acre site, the specifications of the adjacent, concrete tilt-up buildings are as follows:

  • Building A: 213,600 SF, 47 dock locations, 2 drive-in overhead doors, and parking for 156 cars
  • Building B: 124,800 SF, 26 dock locations, 2 drive-in overhead doors, and parking for 99 cars

The BCCG project management team overcame schedule delays due to many weeks of record rainfall events.
